Roadrunner Transportation Systems, Inc., a Cudahy-based asset-light transportation and logistics service provider, reported first quarter net income of $7.9 million, or 25 cents per share, up from $4.4 million, or 14 cents per share, in the same period a year ago.
The company’s quarterly revenues grew to $236.6 million from $171.2 million a year earlier.
Mark DiBlasi, president and chief executive officer of Roadrunner, said, “Strong performance across all of our business segments generated first quarter revenue growth of 38.2 percent and net revenue growth of 70.5 percent. Our operating income growth of 93.2 percent outpaced revenue growth despite the effects of higher fuel prices on revenues and operating costs. Operating income for the first quarter of 2012 represented the best quarter in the history of the company.”
