Milwaukee Armed Forces week will be held from Friday, May 11 until Saturday, May 19. In an effort to educate the community about the Wisconsin Air National Guard, the 128th Air Refueling Wing will host open house displays at the wing on Saturday, May 12 and Sunday, May 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
The open house events will showcase Military Equipment including aircraft, food and drink and entertainment.
The display of aircraft and equipment kick’ s off a week of activities celebrating America’s Armed Forces.
There’s no charge for admission and parking is free at the South campus of MATC (MAP) on Howell Ave. Transportation will be provided to Display. Transportation from MATC to the display ends at 3:00 daily
Milwaukee Armed Forces Week is a joint effort of the Milwaukee Armed Services Committee, comprised of members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, as well as Milwaukee area citizens. Its mission is to increase public understanding of the role of the military in a democratic society as well as honor and acknowledge the people of the Armed Forces of the United States.
Other Armed Forces Week events include Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve breakfasts, lunches and dinners. A civic Dinner Dance at the 128th Refueling Wing, a golf outing on Friday, May 18 at Muskego Lakes Country Club and an Annual Support the Troops Ride & Ceremony on Saturday, May 19 starting at 9 a.m. For more information about Armed Forces Week visit the 128th Refueling Wing website.
BizTimes reporter Alysha Schertz recently went on a media refueling flight with the crew from the 128th Refueling Wing. The mission took media members and crew members on flight on two KC-135R “Stratotankers” to witness an in-flight refueling of three B2 Spirit Bombers.
