Plexus to build new plant in Neenah

Plexus Corp. announced today it intends to construct a $50 million, 410,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Neenah.

This facility will replace two existing leased facilities in Neenah and will consolidate approximately 1,000 employees into the new building.
Construction expected to begin in July 2012 and to be complete in the fall of 2013.
“This decision is a measure of our commitment to manufacturing in the United States and in the great State of Wisconsin,” said Dean Foate, president and chief executive officer of Plexus. “We believe that having strong manufacturing capabilities is essential to serving the evolving needs of our customers and to provide opportunity for growth in the future. This new facility, when combined with our design center, other manufacturing facilities and global headquarters in the Fox Cities, will provide an epicenter of capability for our customers.”
Plexus is eligible for $15 million in enterprise zone tax credits from the State of Wisconsin through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. The tax credits will be distributed over a seven-year period based on capital investment, job retention and job creation conditions. Incentives from the City of Neenah are also contemplated, subject to approval by city officials.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s office said Plexus is planning to create 350 new jobs at the new plant.
Walker attended a ceremony to announce the expansion in Neenah this morning.
“This is a tremendous job creation investment being made by Plexus Corp. with the support of the state and city of Neenah,” Walker said. “The decision by Plexus to do this major expansion and cement its operations in Neenah reflects the positive direction Wisconsin is heading.”
