AT&T Inc. mobile customers in the Milwaukee area are expected to experience improved Internet coverage and voice performance as a result of continued investment and innovation by the company.
The firm announced today it has completed a key initiative in its ongoing efforts to enhance the wireless capacity and performance of its mobile Internet network throughout the Milwaukee area, including the communities of Brookfield, Brown Deer, Cudahy, Elm Grove, Franksville, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Mount Pleasant, Racine, River Hills, St. Francis, Waukesha, Wauwatosa, West Allis and Whitefish Bay.
The network enhancement adds new layers of frequency, also known as “carriers,” to 52 cell sites throughout the Milwaukee area to more efficiently manage available spectrum and increase mobile broadband capacity. The expansion helps manage ever-growing demand for mobile Internet services by allocating more network resources for AT&T’s mobile Internet network.
AT&T invested nearly $450 million in its Milwaukee area wireless and wireline networks from 2008 through 2011 with a focus on improving the company’s mobile broadband coverage and overall performance of its networks.
“As part of the Milwaukee community our goal is for our customers to have an extraordinary experience, and our investment in the local wireless network is just one way we’re accomplishing that,” said Dave Fine, AT&T’s vice president and general manager for Wisconsin and Illinois.
“AT&T has made it a priority to invest in places like Milwaukee because it is important for our customers to have access to the wireless technology they need to run their business or stay in touch with friends and family,” said Scott VanderSanden, AT&T Wisconsin president. “These network improvements in Milwaukee are an example of our continued investment in Wisconsin’s economy.”
