MillerCoors LLC is adding 240 jobs in Milwaukee to optimize its business practices.
About half of the jobs will be MillerCoors positions, and the remaining positions will be consultant roles.
Most of the MillerCoors jobs are being moved to Milwaukee from other locations in the company’s system, said Jonathan Stern, director of media relations for the Chicago-based company.
“Ten of the jobs are going to be completely new,” he said. “These are going to be assignments that are going to be based in Milwaukee for two to three years.”
The employees will be focusing on three areas: streamlining and standardizing processes to eliminate rework; improving decision-making through enhanced insights from better data and analytics; and looking for cost savings that can be reinvested in the business.
The company had about 750 employees at the Milwaukee Brewery and about 600 at the corporate offices in Milwaukee before the new hires were announced, Stern said.
Since the joint venture between SABMiller and Molson Coors Brewing Company in 2008, the company has realized more than $900 million in cost savings. The new initiatives are expected to further those efforts, he said.
“A lot of people thought that when we started the joint venture five years ago, we were going to be leaving town, and that’s completely far from the truth,” Stern said. “Milwaukee is still a vibrant and important campus to the MillerCoors system, so that’s why we decided this is where this project was going to be headquartered.”
