Walker makes appointments to UW Regents board

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker today announced the appointments of Margaret Farrow, Janice Mueller and Joshua Inglett to the University of Wisconsin (UW) System Board of Regents.

The appointments are two citizen members and one student member, respectively.

Farrow is a former lieutenant governor of Wisconsin, former state legislator and former president of the Elm Grove Village Board. Farrow is also the first woman in Wisconsin history to hold the office of lieutenant governor.

Prior to her years of elected public service, Farrow served as a substitute teacher and real estate agent.  Since leaving office, she continues to be active in civic and community groups.   Farrow resides in Pewaukee.

“Margaret is going to serve the Board of Regents with the same poise and dignity as she has shown throughout her entire career in public life,” Walker said.  “Margaret’s extensive experience, coupled with her sterling reputation, will serve the Board of Regents very well.”
Mueller was appointed by the Wisconsin State Legislature in 1998 to serve as the state auditor within the Wisconsin Legislative Audit Bureau. She retired from the post in 2011 and was honored with a joint resolution of the Legislature for her 35 years as a devoted public servant.

Inglett is a University of Wisconsin-Platteville student who is majoring in engineering physics while minoring in both mathematics and business administration.  He is the “traditional student” appointee for the Board of Regents.  Inglett is a native of Portage.

The Board of Regents is responsible for establishing policies and rules for governing the UW System, planning to meet future state needs for collegiate education, setting admission standards and policies, reviewing and approving university budgets, and establishing the regulatory framework within which the individual units are allowed to operate with as great a degree of autonomy as possible.

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Wisconsin State Senate.
