Xorbix Technologies launches event-finding app

Xorbix Technologies, Inc., a Milwaukee-based IT and mobile app development firm, has debuted an event-finding app that can track events according to location, a user’s interests and their specific schedule.

The My Event Organizer (MEO) app, which launched at the end of January, has 27 searchable event categories including business networking, arts, museums, festivals, singles and nightlife, family events, music, and sporting events. Users can also share the events they plan to attend through email, Twitter and Facebook.

Users can access events worldwide.

“It’s kind of like your one-stop source,” said Megan Zimmerman, director of marketing at the firm.

With mobile’s ability to connect people across the world, Xorbix Technologies wanted to develop an app that every mobile user would be able to use, Zimmerman said.

The company also wanted to create an app that would feature events far into the future.

“We feel that being able to search by custom base actually months and years in advance is not found on a lot of other event apps,” Zimmerman said.

A team of six developed the free MEO app over the course of a year. The concept behind the app emerged from personal frustrations of Xorbix Technologies team members struggling to find entertainment at night while travelling for work.

The app’s user interface design is easy to learn and almost intuitive for users, according to Zimmerman.

“When we designed the app, we wanted it to be an app that people didn’t have to sit and play with for a while – that they could just pick up and use right away,” Zimmerman said.

The app is currently available for the iPhone through iTunes. An Android version will be released in March, Zimmerman said.

Xorbix Technologies plans to upgrade the app to allow local businesses and vendors to advertise through the app and offer coupons and promotional deals to users. The upgraded version should be available within the next four weeks, according to Zimmerman.

Since its launch, the app has gained about 1,000 users.

Xorbix Technologies is in the process of creating a calendar app called Linxus that will be on the market this summer. The app will allow iPhone and Android users to link and sync their calendars and customize who can see their calendars. Another app Xorbix Technologies is developing will allow users to identify mechanics in the country by location, direction or website reviews. The Mechanics Finder app will launch this spring.
