G3 Industries Inc. will close its manufacturing plant at N92 W15966 Megal Drive in Menomonee Falls on November 1, according to a WARN notice filed with the state Department of Workforce Development Friday.
The company will lay off 42 employees as a result of the closure. The first layoffs will begin on August 29. No bumping rights exist.
The affected employees have been offered jobs at the Mosinee plant, where G3 plans to create about 35 positions, said Jim Frings, president of G3.
“The company is healthy and growing, but we do not own the facility in Menomonee Falls,” Frings said. “We do own the facil up in Mosinee. Because we have a significant amount of machining expertise up there, and some technology improvements and things like that, we have been able to fit the equipment that we need for these parts up there.”
G3 is a job shop based in Mosinee that offers welded assemblies, tube fabrication, wire forming, turning, machining and stamping. Its 100,000-square-foot fabrication facility is in Mosinee, while precision machining and turning was completed at the 55,000-square-foot Menomonee Falls plant.
The Waukesha-Ozaukee-Washington Workforce Development Board will coordinate rapid response services for affected employees.
“Basically, it’s to cut fixed costs,” Frings said. “We’re losing a bunch of wonderful people, and we’re doing things with assistance on resumes and other job search assistance and severance, of course.”
