Brentwood, Tenn.-based Brookdale Senior Living Inc., an owner and operator of senior living communities throughout the U.S., plans to add 200 corporate office jobs in a $3.9 million expansion of its office in West Allis, located at the Summit Place office complex at 6737 W. Washington St.
The company, which has nearly 650 communities in 36 states and the ability to serve approximately 66,000 residents, currently employs more than 400 people at its West Allis corporate support center.
“Our company has had a strong presence in the Milwaukee area for a long time and we are continuing to increase that presence,” said Mark Ohlendorf, president and chief financial officer. “In 2002, we had just 120 corporate associates and over the years we’ve grown to what will be more than 600. Our corporate team here is focused on supporting our communities across the country so residents receive outstanding services and care every day.”
The expansion of the company’s corporate support center will add jobs in the areas of information technology, finance and asset management.
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. has authorized Brookdale to receive up to $1 million in Jobs Tax Credits over the next two years to assist with the project. The tax credits are contingent upon Brookdale retaining its existing number of jobs and adding 202 more jobs by mid-2016.
“This is good news for Wisconsin as well as the entire metro Milwaukee area,” said Gov. Scott Walker. “This is yet another national company that looked at all of its options, and decided to stay and grow in Wisconsin because of the strong business climate and outstanding workforce.”
“Brookdale is a valued member of the Wisconsin corporate family,” said Jim Paetsch, vice president of the Milwaukee 7 regional economic development group. “We appreciate the investment the company continues to make in southeastern Wisconsin and the significant number of new jobs it expects to create.”
“Brookdale is valuable member of our business community, with an incredible employee team,” said West Allis Mayor Dan Devine. “I am enthusiastic about Brookdale’s growth in West Allis and pleased that we are able to offer a business environment that fosters growth and the ability to attract a skilled workforce.”
