New Public Museum CEO to speak at Newsmaker Luncheon

Dennis Kois, the new president and chief executive officer of the Milwaukee Public Museum, will be the featured newsmaker at the Milwaukee Press Club’s June 11 Newsmaker Luncheon.

 

Kois, who took over at the museum on May 1, will discuss the future of the Public Museum.

The leader is a Whitefish Bay native who holds a bachelor’s in museum design from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a master’s in museum studies from New York University.

Kois most recently served as executive director of the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Boston, where he led a restructuring effort. He has previous experience in design at the Staten Island Institute of Arts & Sciences, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Smithsonian Institution’s Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery; as adjunct professor of the graduate program in Museum Studies at George Washington University; and as executive director of the Grace Museum in Abilene, Texas.

A panel of area journalists will lead a discussion with Kois. The lunch will be held at the Safe House/Newsroom Pub in downtown Milwaukee on June 11, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For more information or to register, visit www.milwaukeepressclub.org.
