The 2010 Ford Taurus will not be available for purchase until August, but some in metro Milwaukee got to test drive the car yesterday. Several Ford officials brought a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO and 2010 Taurus Limited to Griffin Ford in Waukesha and Uptown Ford in Wauwatosa.
The new Taurus is a key part of Dearborn, Mich.-based Ford Motor Co.’s turnaround strategy. Unlike Detroit-based General Motors Corp. and Auburn Hills, Mich.-based Chrysler Group LLC, Ford has not received any bailout funds from the federal government.
The Taurus line has been completely redesigned for 2010, including an aggressively styled exterior and cockpit-like interior cabin. The 2010 model lineup includes the Taurus SHO (super high output), which features a 365 horsepower, 350 lb.-ft torque, twin turbo V6.
Prices for the 2010 Taurus start from $25,995 for the SE package to a $37,995 starting price for the SHO.
The cars that were in Milwaukee on Wednesday are two of 500 early-run models of the 2010 Taurus. Full production began on Monday.
