Cricket Communications and Rebuilding Together repair homes

San Diego-based Cricket Communications Inc., and Washington D.C.-based nonprofit Rebuilding Together Inc. have teamed up to help repair and restore homes in Milwaukee.

Volunteers from both organizations will donate their time on Saturday, May 16 as part of the National Rebuilding campaign that will work to improve more than 4,000 homes across the country. The team of more than 20 volunteers will help a local homeowner make their home safer, more accessible and energy efficient.

“Cricket is proud to support Rebuilding Together in this tremendous home repair and restoration project,” said Christopher Neatherton, Cricket Communications Milwaukee district director. “We feel that it is important to give back to the local community where our customers and employees live and work. So, we are delighted to help this Milwaukee homeowner by making a difference in her everyday life.”

In Milwaukee, Cricket, Rebuilding Together and volunteers will repair plumbing issues, install a handicap-accessible toilet, new bathroom sink and vanity, repair and paint the garage, help remove crumbling sidewalks, and many other tasks geared towards improving the quality of the home. As part of Cricket’s commitment, the wireless provider is also providing all homeowners with a Cricket cell phone and one year of service.

“Rebuilding Together believes in a safe, healthy home for everyone. Yet, in today’s economy, more low income homeowners who are elderly, disabled and have families with children are placed in the position of choosing between vital necessities and essential home repairs,” said Lynnea Katz-Petted, Rebuilding Together’s Milwaukee executive director. “We are grateful to Cricket’s commitment to preserving affordable homeownership and revitalizing communities by providing free home modifications and repairs.”
