Ebenezer Child Care Centers Milwaukee, received two $2,520 accreditation grants from the State of Wisconsin for its St. Jude and St. Paul facilities. The grants will be used to purchase additional program supplies for the centers to maintain their accreditations through the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

Whalen & Associates Inc., Brooklyn, Wis., and its It Starts With Us campaign selected Business Development Directives, Eagle, to conduct a best practices workplace study with companies throughout Wisconsin and Illinois. Whalen and It Starts With Us recently developed a national seminar called, "Strengthen the Harmony Between Your Life, Family and Work." Business Development Directives will conduct a market study of organizations that consider themselves best places to work or employers of choice in an attempt to measure the degree of balance they feel they provide their employees, measure the amount of stress in the workplace and gauge their degree of interest in the seminar that Whalen has developed. The consultants will conduct in-depth phone interviews and analyze secondary research sources.

Marquette University
Marquette University, Milwaukee, and Nelligan Sports Marketing Inc. (NSM), Little Falls, N.J., have partnered with Aurora Health Care, Milwaukee, designating Aurora Health Care as the official health care provider of Marquette Athletics. The partnership will provide Marquette Athletics with resources from the Aurora Sports Medicine Institute and Aurora Sinai Medical Center including trainers, nutritionists, orthopedists and other personnel support and services.

Carol Brown, president of Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) received the Technical Leadership Award from The National Association of Printing Leadership (NAPL) for her efforts in creating an applied printing technology center in the Harry V. Quadracci Printing and Graphics Center at WCTC. The facility will support applied research, technical training and industry seminars and conferences to meet industry demands driven by technology advancements.

Jefferson Wells
Jefferson Wells, Milwaukee, and Paul Rozek, director of technology risk management, received the Patriotic Employer Award by the National Committee of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). The award is given to employers with policies and practices supportive of their employees’ participation in the National Guard and Reserve. Rozek was recognized for his support of Staff Sgt. John Otte, a Jefferson Wells employee, and the Otte family. Rozek rearranged schedules, jobs and client projects for Otte while he attended military occupational training associated with pre-mobilization requirements and offered support to the Otte family in the event that Otte was deployed. Jefferson Wells was one of 12 recipients of the award nationwide and the only recipient located in Wisconsin.
Spectrum Digital Services LLC
Spectrum Digital Services LLC, Hartland, launched a complete product line of a greeting card and recordable disc combination called SpinCards. The line includes 100 individual card designs with matching recordable discs, holiday cards and a variety of merchandising units. Greeting cards with recordable DVDs are currently being developed. SpinCards are available at select retail outlets throughout the country. Spectrum is working with several distribution channels to roll out the product nationwide.

Kelly Zylstra, project manager for the water supply, treatment and storage section for Crispell-Snyder, Lake Geneva, received the 2004 Young Engineer of the Year award from the Engineers and Scientists of Milwaukee (ESM). Zylstra was recognized for her contributions to the knowledge and development of the engineering profession and for participating in professional societies and community-based engineering education efforts. Zylstra joined Crispell-Snyder in 1993 and has served as the section project manager since 2003. Zylstra has more than 10 years of experience in water supply, storage and treatment and is involved in the Wisconsin Wastewater Operators Association, The Wisconsin Rural Water Association, the Wisconsin Water Association and the Society of Women Engineers. Se holds a bachelor’s degree in geology and a bachelor’s degree in geological engineering from Michigan Technological University.
Muth Mirror Systems
Muth Mirror Systems, Sheboygan, signed an exclusive sales and distribution agreement with Calesco Foil AB, Kolback, Sweden. Calesco will sell Muth’s through-the-glass signaling products to original equipment manufacturer and tier one companies in European countries. The emphasis for initial sales will be on the Muth Signal Mirror product line. The Signal Mirror features a red light emitting diode (LED) chevron that flashes through the glass of the corresponding side mirror to alert drivers in the blind spots. When hazard lights are activated, the chevrons flash in both mirrors.

The glossary is a reference book that includes an updated list of 600 acronyms and more than 2,200 definitions in topics including HIPAA privacy legislation, compensation, financial planning, health care and health care cost-containment strategies, employee benefit plan design and administration, government regulations and legislation, human resources, insurance, investments, labor law and labor relations.
Stephens Trzinski Advertising
The Milwaukee County Zoo has selected Stephens Trzinski Advertising, Waukesha, to create and implement a new advertising and marketing campaign for 2005. The campaign will include an interactive exhibit allowing patrons to touch and feed an exotic animal. The zoo has not announced the name of the exhibit, but it will run from June through September.
JC Trucking Services LLC
JC Trucking Services LLC, West Allis, received a $35,000 loan from the Department of Commerce Minority Business Development program. JC Trucking Services transports waste, construction materials and road salt throughout southeastern Wisconsin. The company will use the funds to purchase equipment as part of a project that will also create one job and retain one job. The total project cost is $161,000.

Midwest Dieticians LLC, Elm Grove, has hired Robert Hurst of R. Hurst & Associates, LLC, Milwaukee, as its director of marketing. R. Hurst & Associates specializes in serving as a part-time director of marketing to small and medium-sized businesses. Hurst will provide a marketing plan, review the Midwest Dieticians Web site, enhance information packets, create a referral program and develop a competitive analysis for the company. Midwest Dieticians plans to add several new staff, commercial and individual clients and relocate to a larger space in the next year.
