Kenosha airport work funded

Wisconsin Governor Scott McCallum has approved a $1.3 million project at the Kenosha Regional Airport to complete apron and hangar area development and parking lot improvements.
The Governor’s action releases $303,000 in state funds to help complete the work. The City of Kenosha is contributing $355,000 and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing the remaining $677,332. The work should be completed by October.
“The health of Wisconsin’s economy depends on a top-notch and diverse transportation network,” Governor McCallum said. “Our airports are an important part of that network, and these improvements will accommodate increasing use of the Kenosha Regional Airport.”
The project involves: a 125-foot by 500-foot expansion of the north apron area; construction of a taxiway, a southwest apron area and access roads to the hangar area; and reconstruction of two auto parking lots.
Completion of the project will provide additional space for aircraft hangars and for fixed-base-operators – private businesses that provide aviation-related services at airports. In 1999, there were 262 aircraft based at the Kenosha Regional Airport and a total of 87,545 take-offs and landings.
